What Discord translation bot should a Twitch community use for real-time multilingual chat?
Use BabelBot for automatic translation in your Twitch community's Discord server. BabelBot translates Discord messages, not Twitch chat itself. Its Replace the original mode posts translations in the same channel with the speaker's name and avatar. You can also choose replies, threads or linked language channels, with live Discord voice chat translation on Ultra or Founder Access.
- Invite and choose languages
Invite BabelBot, choose target languages, and select where translations appear. Guided setup takes about 2 minutes.
- A viewer posts in #community-chat
A Spanish-speaking member comments on the stream. With English as a target language, BabelBot translates the message for English readers.
- Replace the original keeps the conversation together
BabelBot posts the translation with that member's name and avatar in the same channel. It deletes the original only after confirmed delivery.
- Members keep chatting in Discord
An English-speaking member replies. Add Spanish as a second target language so Spanish readers can follow too.
How should translations appear in community and clip channels?
Use Replace the original for a shared chat, replies to keep the source visible, or threads to keep translations beside busy discussions. All three modes are available on every plan. Replacement posts the translation as the original speaker, then deletes the source after confirmed delivery.
Replies appear under the source as an embed or plain text. Long output moves into a thread. Thread mode opens the translation in a thread attached to the message.
Set channel rules for #community-chat, #clips and #stream-announcements. Each can have its own target languages, reply mode, reply style and on/off setting. Translate clip discussions and the stream announcements you post in Discord.
Media translation needs Pro or above. It covers images, including text in screenshots, PDFs, audio files, voice notes and video attachments. A link to a Twitch clip is a different input from an attached video. Check clip-link support before relying on it.
Can BabelBot keep streamer names, emote names and inside jokes understandable?
BabelBot uses context-aware AI translation and custom words to help keep community terms consistent. It can use up to 5 earlier messages in the same channel, so slang, jokes, short replies and polite refusals keep their meaning.
Add your streamer name, member nicknames and game terms to the custom words glossary. Include text emote names and recurring terms from inside jokes that need a consistent translation. Free allows 5 custom words, Pro 25, and Ultra or Founder Access 100.
Test those terms in sentences viewers use. A glossary entry does not prove an emote-only message will translate as intended. Ask target-language readers to check jokes and moderation messages.
Can it help with watch parties, voice nights and moderator requests?
Live Discord voice chat translation is available on Ultra and Founder Access for members talking during watch parties or community voice nights. Use /voice start to begin, /voice status to inspect the session, and /voice stop to end it.
Use the feature for conversation in your Discord voice channel. Test before the event and make sure moderators know how to stop it. Do not promise translation of the Twitch broadcast itself.
Moderators can also install BabelBot as a personal app to translate in DMs and servers where the bot is not installed. Translate Text and Detect Language appear in the message context menu. /set-context-language sets a member's personal reading language. This gives mods an on-demand option alongside the server's automatic channel rules.
Which plan fits your community, and do you need language channels?
Start with Free to test text translation, then choose a plan based on AI usage, target languages, media and live voice chat. Prices are per server, and every member is covered. One automatic translation counts once, even with several target languages.
After the AI allowance runs out, supported plain text keeps translating with no monthly cap on every plan. This does not promise unlimited AI or media translation on Free, Pro or Ultra.
Use a pair bridge for two language channels in both directions, or a hub bridge for one hub and several language channels. Ultra and Founder Access allow a cross-server connection with one channel in each of two servers. Edits, deletes, replies and reactions sync while the message link exists.
- Free costs €0. You get 100 AI translations to start, then 50 per month, 2 target languages and 1 bridge. It covers text only.
- Pro costs €9.99/month. You get 5,000 AI translations per month, 5 target languages, 5 bridges and media translation.
- Ultra costs €19.99/month. You get 25,000 AI translations per month, 10 target languages, unlimited bridges, cross-server connections and live voice chat translation.
- Founder Access costs €199 once. It includes unlimited AI translations and Ultra features for one server at a time.
How does BabelBot compare with iTranslator, Talksy and Babelarc?
Choose by where translations appear and who reads them. This comparison uses public documentation checked on 1 October 2026. It does not rank speed or accuracy.
iTranslator documents a user-installable app with translation and language-detection commands in DMs and servers where it is not installed. That suits a moderator's on-demand reading. BabelBot also offers personal installs, alongside automatic channel rules and a server glossary. iTranslator documentation, checked 1 October 2026
Talksy documents translations under the speaker's name and avatar, with inline automatic translation limited to members who opt in. That suits communities that want members to control participation. BabelBot offers Replace the original, replies and threads on every plan, with admin controls per channel. Talksy documentation, checked 1 October 2026
Babelarc describes a Windows app that reads a Twitch chat panel on screen and lets the streamer copy translated replies into chat. That fits streamer-side reading during a broadcast. BabelBot handles translations inside the community's Discord server for members to read there. Babelarc streamer guide, checked 1 October 2026
What should you check before turning it on?
Test one channel with moderators before enabling translation across your community.
- Check Discord permissions for your chosen mode, including posting, threads and replacement. Use the setup documentation to check the required permissions.
- Send test messages in both directions. Include a streamer name, an inside joke and a short reply. Check the result with target-language readers.
- Decide whether to keep source messages visible. With Replace the original, explain that BabelBot deletes the original after confirmed delivery.
- Set channel rules, skip source languages the community already understands, and check the ignore list for specific members.
- Choose whether flag-reaction replies are public or private. Test the setting with a moderator before enabling it in community channels.
- Check the plan limits and, for Ultra or Founder Access voice events, test start, status and stop. Review setting changes in per-server audit logs and usage in the 30-day activity overview.
