About
Built because literal Discord translation was not good enough
BabelBot translates Discord chat with context-aware AI across 130+ languages. The aim is a translation that keeps what the person meant, then delivers it as replies, threads, linked channels, or inline webhooks under the original speaker's name.

Translation that becomes the chat
Other bots interrupt the room with prefixes, duplicate messages, and an obvious bot layer. BabelBot inline webhook translation posts in-channel with the original user's avatar and name so the conversation keeps its normal flow.
The goal is simple: same channel, same speakers, less visual clutter. When a busy server needs more separation, use threaded replies or linked language channels without changing bots.
Context-aware translation quality
BabelBot routes text through modern AI translation models first and can include nearby messages from the same channel. Custom words, glossaries, and per-channel rules steer names, game terms, and community slang the way your server actually talks. Image, video, and audio file translation use the same AI stack on paid plans.
When monthly AI quota runs out, BabelBot's in-house translator keeps supported text translating.
A full Discord translation system, with one promise
Automatic translation, flag reactions, inline webhooks, linked channels, personal Translate Text, and live voice chat are parts of one workflow. The brand promise stays narrow: translations that preserve what people mean.
- Inline webhook translation (speaker-style messages in channel)
- Automatic translation with smart language detection
- Flag reaction translations
- Linked language channels and language bridges
- Threaded and inline reply delivery
- Custom words and per-server glossaries
- Skip languages you do not want translated
- PDF, image, video, and audio file translation on paid plans
- Live voice chat translation on Ultra and Founder Access
- User install for Translate Text, Detect Language, and /set-context-language
- Web dashboard with channel rules and usage visibility
Quiet defaults, one-click setup
Click Add BabelBot to Discord. Guided setup opens in your browser with your server already selected. Pick target languages, choose how translations appear, send a test message, and you are live in about two minutes.
BabelBot stays out of the way by default: it skips link-only messages, respects source-language exclusion rules, and preserves code blocks and emojis in translated text. Open the dashboard later when you want bridges, custom words, channel rules, or media translation.
Unlimited free tier without vote gimmicks
The free plan costs EUR 0 per month and includes unlimited supported text translation, automatic language detection, reply, thread, or inline webhook delivery, and one linked language channel.
Free servers receive 100 AI translations to start, eligible servers can add a one-time +100 top.gg bonus, then 50 AI translations per UTC month. Supported text keeps translating with BabelBot's in-house translator when AI quota runs out. See the pricing page or machine-readable pricing summary.
Shipped in public, week after week
BabelBot adds features and fixes continuously. Custom words, skip-languages rules, guided setup, voice chat translation, and Dashboard 2.0 all landed in 2026. The product you install today is not the ceiling.

Operated independently
BabelBot is operated by Bram Suurd as an independent product. The stack includes the Discord bot, a web dashboard at dash.babelbot.app, billing through Polar, and translation providers chosen for predictable server-level usage.
Documentation, plan limits, and command references ship alongside the bot so what you read matches what runs in your server. For setup help, visit /docs. For support, email [email protected].

Latest v2.24.1, September 28, 2026
Conversation mode split sentence fragments
Fixed a bug where Conversation mode added paragraph breaks between consecutive messages before translation. BabelBot now joins those messages with spaces so the translator receives the combined text.
Translate consecutive messages together
Conversation mode groups text messages from the same member and translates them together after a short wait.
- Available on Pro, Ultra, and Founder Access. Open Conversation mode in the dashboard and choose 1 to 10 seconds. Choose Off to translate each message immediately.
- The first message starts the timer. Follow-up messages do not extend it. Messages with embeds or attachments translate immediately.
- Works with replies, threads, replacement, and bridges. Grouped bridge copies rebuild when an original is edited or deleted.
- Each original message still counts toward usage. Five grouped messages count as five.
Guided setup updates and a setup checklist
We changed several guided setup steps. For 30 days after setup, Overview now shows a checklist of next steps.
- Setup suggests your dashboard language and English as target languages. Language names show in your dashboard language.
- The test step has an Open Discord button. If no translation appears after about a minute, setup shows what to check.
- If you are signed in and Discord does not return a server, you can choose the server from a list.
- If your Discord account cannot manage the server, setup tells you before you choose settings. You can then switch accounts.
- BabelBot's welcome message uses your server's Discord language when BabelBot supports it.
Guided setup replaced saved settings
Fixed a bug where opening guided setup again for a server could replace its saved target languages and reply mode. If setup is already complete, guided setup now opens the server's Overview.
Choose BabelBot's server language
Server managers can use /language or the welcome message button to choose the language for BabelBot's welcome and admin command replies. This setting does not change translation target languages.
