Conversation mode
Translate several short messages from the same member together.
Some members send a sentence in several messages. Conversation mode waits briefly and translates those messages together. It is available on Pro, Ultra, and Founder Access.
For example, a member sends hi, im, testing, and this. BabelBot joins them as hi im testing this before translating. This can make short message groups easier to understand.
Choose a wait time
- Sign in to the dashboard and select your server. You need Manage Server in Discord.
- Open Conversation mode.
- Choose a wait between 1 and 10 seconds.
- Wait for the setting to show Saved.
The first message starts the timer. Later messages do not restart it. Choose a shorter wait if your members want faster replies.
Which messages join a group?
BabelBot groups messages only from the same member, in the same channel, with the same reply target. A reply target is the message they are replying to.
Messages with attachments, stickers, polls, embeds, or forwarded content translate immediately. An embed is a rich Discord card, such as a link preview. A group can contain up to 20 messages and 10,000 characters.
What members see
BabelBot uses your reply mode. It posts a combined reply, puts a translation thread on the first message, or delivers a replacement before deleting the originals. Messages already inside a thread get their translation there.
Bridges send a combined translation to each linked channel. Editing or deleting an original rebuilds those copies from the messages that remain.
Grouping does not reduce the message count
Five original messages still count as five messages. Bridges keep their usual counting for each destination. Conversation mode changes how BabelBot translates and displays the group.
Try it and turn it off
If English is your target, send Bonjour, then comment allez-vous ? as separate messages before the timer ends. Check for one combined translation after the wait.
Choose Off on the same page to return to translating each message immediately. Flag reactions, context menus, and live voice chat do not use Conversation mode.
