Skip languages

Skip languages controls which original messages BabelBot leaves alone. Use it when your members already understand a language and do not need translations from it.

For example, keep English in Target languages and add English to Skip languages. English messages stay as written. French messages can still get an English translation.

Add a language to skip

1. Sign in to the dashboard and select your server. You need Manage Server in Discord.
2. Open Skip languages.
3. Add the languages your community already understands.
4. Wait for Saved, then post a sentence in one of those languages. BabelBot should leave it untranslated.

The skipped message does not count toward translation usage. If BabelBot cannot identify its language with confidence, it translates as usual.

Where this setting applies

This setting applies to normal automatic translation. Flag reactions are a member's direct request for a translation, so they do not use this skip list. Bridges use the languages assigned to their channels.

A channel rule can use a different Don't translate from list. To translate English in one channel while skipping it elsewhere, set that rule's list to empty.

Translate that language again

Remove it from Skip languages. Check matching channel rules too, then send a new test sentence.

If you wanted to stop translating into a language instead, remove it from Target languages.
