Nickname
Change the name members see for BabelBot in your Discord server.
A server nickname changes BabelBot's displayed name in this server. Use a name your members recognize, such as Community translator.
This changes the bot's name. It does not change translation languages or the names of members shown on replacement messages.
Set a nickname
- Sign in to the dashboard and select your server. You need Manage Server in Discord.
- Under Bot identity, open Nickname.
- Enter the name you want members to see.
- Select Save nickname.
- Open Discord and check BabelBot in the server's member list.
The field shows the allowed character count. A nickname applies only to the selected server.
If the setting is locked
BabelBot needs Discord's Change Nickname permission. Follow Update in Discord to grant it, then return to the dashboard. The dashboard checks again when you return. You can also use Check again.
If BabelBot is not installed, invite it first. Your permission to manage the server and BabelBot's permission to change its nickname are separate.
Restore the default name
Clear the nickname field and select Save nickname. Check the member list in Discord again.
To change the bot's picture or description too, see Profile.
