Ignored users

Add a member to Ignored users when BabelBot should leave that person's messages alone. The list applies to this server. It does not remove the member or stop them from chatting.

Only a server manager can change the list. Members cannot add themselves.

The list stops automatic message translation, including bridge messages, and excludes the member from live voice chat translation. It does not block direct requests through flag reactions or Translate Text.

Find the member's user ID

A Discord user ID is a long number that identifies an account. It is different from the person's name.

1. In Discord, open User Settings, then Advanced.
2. Turn Developer Mode on. This lets you copy account IDs.
3. Right-click the member and choose Copy User ID.

Add the member

1. Sign in to the dashboard and select your server. You need Manage Server in Discord.
2. Open Ignored users.
3. Paste the copied number into Discord user ID.
4. Select Ignore user. The number should appear in the list.

The field accepts a user ID with 17 to 20 digits. A display name, username, or message link will not work.

Check and remove an ignored user

Ask the member to send a sentence that would normally translate. BabelBot should leave it untranslated. Use another member's message to confirm translation still works for the rest of the channel.

To translate their messages again, select the remove button beside their ID. Send a new test message after removing it.

Use Channel rules to stop automatic translation for a whole channel, or Skip languages to skip a language for everyone.
